Hakans S800s in Sweden

Dear fellow Honda S800 enthusiasts.

Here is a report about the S800 status in Sweden and the status of my cars.

In 1968 two was sold new as a test along with one N600. Both the S800 are still alive but not the N600. One of S800 (the convertible including original hardtop) are actually still owned by the same guy who bought the car on June 1968. The coupe are in Stockholm somewhere buth I do not have any contact with the owner.

A Dutch import car is up and running and I have contact with the new owner, who bought the car half a year ago.

Then there is a coupe also imported privately, country unknown. This cars is converted with a Yamaha MC engine. All original parts should according to the owner be stored safely for anyone in the future who want to put the car back to authentic status.

Then there is a S600 convertible used as a show car owned by a dealer in the South of Sweden. Registered as 1968 but we all know that is wrong as the S600 stopped to be produced in 1966.

Then there are my cars

A couple of years ago I bought one convertible and one coupe. They was sold as a pair. Both subject to restoration. The convertible are missing some bits and pieces but the coupe is complete. Allot of work to get both on the road again.

I started the work with the convertible and it is slowly making progress. One big step for me was to find a good body shop in order to fix all the rust. Finally I did find a company that suits me, because I want it to be done properly.

Present status of the convertible is completely knocked down and the body and frame are at the body shop. Here is a film clip of the body after sand blasting and rust protection.

What I am doing at the moment is trying to get Radford Panel to to confirm my order of replacement panels. Any one of you who now the guys? Please if possible remind them tro confirm my order.

I will try to report more frequently and I hope to see you at the AGM 2019.

Regards
Hakan

Happy New Year from Gothenburg, Sweden

At the moment, I am waiting for Radford Panel to give me a hint that the fenders and everything else I ordered is ready to be picked up. It will be a big step forward when I get that and all other stuff I will pick up at Herrn Ortmann.

Meanwhile I need some help. As I am doing a total rebuild I would like to know if the inner floor hade the same colour as the rest of the body from factory or was it black irrespectively coulure of the car? I also would like to know if some of the bolts and nuts was colour marked in any way when the car was put together for the first time. I will be very grateful if anyone could give me some information about this.

Thanks

Happy New Year Karl, the bodies as far as I know were all in the same colour. The inside area of the tailgates were not body colour.
I have never seen bolts colour coded myself.

Hi

Anyone know what original colour on frame, rear axle and suspension parts? I understand it is black but is it half matt or matt?
Thanks

Re: Hakans S800s in Sweden

This is Hakan writing from a sunny Gothenburg. I hope you all are well. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the AGM this year as i was in Italy for the S2000 Euromeet. Great fun and 192 cars from all over Europe roaring up and down mountain passes in the Dolomites.

The body of my convertible S800 should have been ready and painted by know but it is delayed. The body shop have been hindered by the fact that the panels I bought from company Radford Panels did not fit that good. I will try to produce a good report about it and I have hundreds of pictures for that. I will also try and communicate same report with Radford Panels and i hope that Gordon ar willing to do some changes in order to make panels that actually fit. As it is now I will not recommend anyone buying any panel from them. It is a pity as you know they are the only ones known, at least attempting to do some body panels. I think it could be good for the S800 community throughout the world if they could get it right. I am also confident they would have much more business.

Now to the thing I am actually writing about today. I have bought wheels to my S800 it is the Minilite. The dimension of the rim is 14''x 6''. What size /dimension of tire for that rim is recommended?

Many thanks and all the best
Hakan
